Inside our Boudoir & Books romance book club in Fredericksburg, VA, Novel & Black Lace Boudoir, and local businesses created a candlelit night for book lovers.
Today, as I sit and write this I am feeling all the emotions. My heart is full! After our recent Between the Covers event at Black Lace Boudoir in Downtown Fredericksburg (FXBG). What started as a simple idea between two women-owned businesses became a night that felt straight out of a Romance Fantasy novel.
Hosted in my studio and created in partnership with Novel, our favorite local book shop. This special evening brought together everything we love most: books, cozy atmosphere, and heartfelt conversation. And if you’ve ever typed “books near me” and secretly wanted more than just shelves and sales, you know the feeling. You’re really searching for a place that feels soft and welcoming. Last night was exactly that.
A Night of Romance, Fantasy, and Honest Conversation
For this Book Club gathering, we dove into two unforgettable reads. “We Who Will Die” by Stacia Stark. The perfect for anyone who loves dark magic and vampires. And “In Your Dreams” by Sarah Adams. A soft, sweet romance full of charm and second chances. Together, they created the ideal mix for a Fantasy Book Club and Romance Book Club hybrid.
The studio was transformed into a dreamy hideaway, with glowing candles from Keys Collection filling the room with romantic scent. Our guests sipped themed drinks and enjoyed food. Each inspired by the books we were discussing. Goodie bags were lovingly filled with intentional treats from Zynda Apothecary. Soothing self-care from Collage Spa, and other surprises that made everyone feel genuinely pampered.
Yet, the real magic happened in the conversations. Women shared their thoughts on grief, healing, second chances, desire, and the lines that stick with you long after you close the book. Ultimately, these are our signature Main Character Sessions, designed to make you feel like the heroine of your own story. In each one, you’re wrapped in your favorite genre! Whether it is a spicy romance or dark fantasy, you’ll fall in love!
Boudoir & Books Main Character Sessions
Inspired by Between the Covers, I’m now offering Boudoir & Books themed photography sessions with books at Black Lace Boudoir. In the end, these are our signature Main Character Sessions. They’re styled to make you feel like the heroine of your own story, wrapped in your favorite genre—whether that’s spicy romance, dark fantasy, or something soft and in between. Think luxe, bookish portraits surrounded by your current reads, cozy blankets, and props that echo the vibe of your favorite Virginia book stores.
So if you love supporting local book shops in Virginia, and creative events in FXBG, then is your kind of thing. Make sure to keep an eye out, because this was only the first chapter.
