Why did you choose Rami from Black Lace Boudoir?
I chose to work with Rami because she’s down-to-earth and easy to talk to. Doing a boudoir can be a little nerve-wracking the first time, but she made me feel comfortable to ask questions and discuss anything I needed to. Also, her studio is gorgeous. You feel safe and comfortable in this beautiful environment.
Did you do the session to give to someone or for yourself?
I did the session for myself. Every woman deserves to give this empowering gift to herself. Women in our society have daily battles, whether it’s with the world around us or with ourselves. When you’re dolled up in beautiful lingerie, it’s nearly impossible to look at yourself and not feel proud. It’s a great gift to yourself because later on when you’re having a bad day, you can look at the photos and remind yourself who you are.
It is easy to make excuses why you shouldn’t, but why live life always preventing yourself from feeling empowered and beautiful? When you give yourself time to release those things holding you back, you will find yourself reintroducing yourself to the world with this newfound love for yourself. Sometimes, we need to talk about the things that we have so freely given to others so we can learn to love ourselves with the same passion as we do others. Being empowered by a boudoir session will change you. It is healing in the power of taking back control of your sexuality and that feminine side that gets pushed down. Don’t let another minute pass before you reach out and make this empowering experience your own.
Was this your first boudoir session?
I’ve done two sessions with Rami now! I wish I could do it every day. In my first session, I booked a wardrobe consult so I could go over my outfits and see the Client’s Closet ahead of time. The first two hours we spent chatting about ghosts and old houses. It is not often you run into someone who enjoys similar things. That is what I love about Rami; she is relatable and she is down to earth. Having that appointment before my session really allowed me to walk into my first session feeling prepared. If you are going to aim for an experience where you can connect with the photographer, you will not be disappointed! It becomes addicting to feel so good about yourself!
What part of your boudoir experience sticks with you the most?
Acceptance. I felt acceptance, not only by Rami, but by myself. Rami lets you be who you are, and she celebrates it with you. That day and every day after, my images remind me of how amazing it can feel when you let yourself feel empowered. You can take on the world, it feels like! I looked at myself in the mirror and accepted myself in a way I never had before. Walking into an experience that you know will be vulnerable is downright nerve-racking, but one part of this experience is getting to feel comfortable with Rami. She makes every effort to build a connection with her clients prior to the session so when you come in, you are able just to be. It can be really hard to see this side of you, let alone allow you to show another person.
Growing up very modestly, it was never accepted to be revealing. I realized it has nothing to do with being revealing; it has to do with loving and accepting all parts of your body and being proud of who you are. This experience helped me achieve this feeling.
What was your favorite part during your session?
Honestly? The whole thing! I loved getting my hair and makeup done, picking out which outfits to wear, posing for the camera, and then getting to see my pictures once we were done. The whole thing is fun and super exciting. I always feel so empowered afterward!
After your session, how did you feel?
I felt empowered and beautiful with each session. Each time I did a session, I was in a different part of my life. It is really neat to see the growth in my self. A boudoir session will give you this boost of confidence that empowers you. When you feel empowered, you begin to look at yourself and the world around you a little differently. Sometimes, we need these eye-opening experiences that shake us up a bit to really see our true potential. After my session, I was ready to go out into the world and show myself off. It gave me the best boost of confidence.
If you could share with another woman something about your boudoir experience, what would you share with her?
Every part of you is beautiful, and you deserve to be celebrated. Nothing needs to be fixed or altered. Come as you are! There’s never going to be a “better” time to do it- just jump!
What products did you purchase and why?
I purchased albums, digital images, and wall art! I wanted each of these items, especially the wall art, to remind myself that I am beautiful and strong, even on the days when I don’t feel like it.
Which image is your favorite?
It’s so hard to choose! There are things I love about every photo- I love them each in a different way.To me, that’s part of the beauty in these kinds of shoots. You bring what you want to the table and show off all the sides that make you who you are. Some of the images are sexier, some more subdued, some give girl boss vibes, and others have an innocence about them. They’re all empowering in their own way.
How often do you look at your images? Every day! I hung my wall art in my bedroom and bathroom, so it’s a daily reminder to keep my chin up!
